The kind of bread I get behind, all day EVERYDAY!

Ingredients

  • Whole wheat flour – 1-1/2 – 2 cups
  • Plain Greek yogurt – 2 tbsp.
  • Warm water – 1 cup (might require lesser, mix little by little)
  • Salt – 1-2 tbsp.

Instructions

  1. Mix all the ingredients together. Let them rest, covered, for about 5-10 minutes.
  2. Make them in small round balls and flatten them out. As round as possible.
  3. Let the oil heat up to 350 – 375 degree Fahrenheit
  4. Deep fry the dough until brown and puffy – about 5-8 seconds on each side.
  5. Remove from oil and place on paper towels to remove any excess oil from Poori
  6. Any remaining pooris can be stored in cool and airtight containers.

I’ve always wondered why this wasn’t as famous as Naan bread – probably because its creation process is not as fancy (and deep-fried) but the taste is still divine and don’t want to listen to anyone who says otherwise.

Yes, this passion is real. The recipe for the yummiest Indian bread recipe in under 30 minutes

1-4.jpg

Mix all ingredients and make them into small balls; set aside (5-10 minutes). Ensure to have them closed when resting as the dough tends to harden quick

2.1.jpg

Flatten them out to tiny disc-shape.

Get that oil HOT (almost 400F) and deep fry away…

Usually, the bread is pulled out about 10 seconds before they look like this but I’m one of those who absolutely love burnt toast and just like that, I like my Pooris EXTRA fried

Goes excellent with Aloo Bhaji (Potato fry)(recipe found in the next post), Chana Masala (chickpeas curry) or Spicy Chicken Curry… anything that requires bread, really
